Sunrise Yin Yoga

Most forms of yoga today are dynamic, active practices designed to work only half of our body, the muscular half, the “Yang” tissues. Yin Yoga allows us to work the other half, the deeper “Yin” tissues of ligaments, joints, deep fascia networks and even bones, to achieve optimal health and vitality.

Early morning yin practice benefits us when the muscles are cool (so they don’t steal the stress away from the deeper tissues), which could maximise the physiological benefits of our practice. Warm muscles tend to absorb most stress of the pose, early morning muscles are not awake, they are cold, stiff and allows yin to settle deeper into tissues.

Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues.
